Kingsbury Club Tennis Staff

Donna Bearup

Director of Tennis

Donna brings a long history of tennis experience to the Kingsbury Club. Her certifications as a USPTA P1 Professional, Certified Umpire and USTA Sports Competency certifications in Level I and II Sport Science, as well as serving on the MITA Board of Directors, have provided her with the knowledge base to serve as Director of Tennis. Over the past few years she has traveled to China multiple times with her husband, who is a consultant with the CTA (China Tennis Association), to assist him in working with their younger, talented players and coaches in order to expose them to western advancements in training.

Donna began teaching at the Millpond Tennis Club in 1979 (now SSYMCA), and moved to the Kingsbury Club and closer to her home in Duxbury when both clubs were owned by the same company. When her children were younger, Donna taught part time and as they grew, progressed to Junior Coordinator and full time Professional, until becoming the Director of Tennis in 2000-a job she clearly enjoys!

Drew Martin

Head Professional

A native of Michigan, Drew Martin joined the Kingsbury Staff in 2009 after working at the Farmington Country Club in Charlottesville, VA. Drew's certifications as a USPTA P1 Certified Professional, in USPTA Sport Science 1, as a USPTA Developmental Coach, as well as a Master Racquet Technician, all underline the fact that he is a dedicated and committed Tennis Professional.

Drew played college tennis at Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina and also competed on the mid-Atlantic 5.0 Men's Team. With his easy going, yet professional demeanor, on court energy, thirst to pass on his knowledge of tennis and ever present smile, Drew quickly developed a loyal following of adults and juniors. In his second year at the club Drew was promoted to Director of Adult Tennis, where he was responsible for developing and overseeing the adult tennis programs at the club. After demonstrating his proficiency in this area, Drew now serves as the Head Professional at the club with the primary responsibility of overseeing the on court portion of all tennis programming.

Dolly Snow Bicknell

Tennis Professional

A 2012 inductee into the New England Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island, Dolly Snow Bicknell as always had tennis as an important part of her life. Dolly began playing competitively at age 11 and was ranked in the New England juniors from that time on. Although she was periodically ranked #1 in the singles of various age groups, Dolly was always more comfortable playing doubles, where she held the #1 ranking throughout each age group-even through the Women's events. Her teaching career began in 1969 and in 1974 she joined the staff at the Kingsbury Club (formerly the Pilgrim Tennis Club) shortly after it opened and has been an icon ever since.

Known as much, if not more, for her tireless volunteering and fundraising for almost any good cause, perhaps a quote submitted on her behalf to the Hall of Fame committee describes Dolly best: "Her contributions to tennis and society speak volumes of Dolly's dedication, discipline and character, of a woman who enjoys giving back and making a difference. The New England tennis landscape is blessed to have Dorothy Snow Bicknell on the scene." And at the Kingsbury Club we would enthusiastically add... and so are we!

Maureen Buitenhuys

Tennis Instructor

Moe Buitenhuys has done it all at the Kingsbury Club since joining the staff in 1993. A lifelong athlete, Moe's first loves were basketball and softball, where she was always a standout performer. Tennis came later in life, but once again, her athleticism allowed her to become a top player in a short time.

Moe originally joined the staff as a front desk receptionist and for a time oversaw the operations of the front desk. Always a quick study, she also took up stringing racquets and became proficient in that area in a short time. On court Moe's tennis skills continued to improve and soon she was not only competing on our highest competitive ladies team, but she also began helping out on court teaching juniors. The skills she acquired through coaching her children's sports teams, as well as her affinity for working with children, combined to make the transition to teaching tennis a seamless one.
